Sally Hansen Miracle Gel⎪Truffle Shuffle

Every brand is coming out with their own version of "gel" nails, aren't they? I had my heart set on the Revlon GelEnvy nail polishes, but Sally Hansen makes pretty good ones too. But first off, before I compare the two brands - I want to take about this shade. "Truffle Shuffle" is a beautiful caramel brown. It's elegant and perfect for the fall and winter.

What I love about this nail polish: easy to apply, shiny
Downfall: they recommend that you use their miracle gel topcoat. I don't know if it's necessary so I'm testing it out right now. Also, it's not as shiny as the Revlon gel envy nail polishes. I'm going to have to test out the duration of how long they remain shiny and intact. I'll keep you notified!

Jouer Makeup Haul⎪First Impressions

A recent haul from Jouer, featuring their beautiful and rich lip glosses, their liquid eyeliner (a repurchase), and their mousse eyeshadow.

Lipglosses - the nude shade is "wind" and the vibrant pink is "peony"
the shade "peony" is one of Jouer's best-selling product!
but I, personally love the shade "wind"
such a gorgeous nude shade I have to say!
I love topping my lipsticks with lip glosses nowadays
I hate the look of cracked or dried lip color
lip glosses make the lips look plumper and healthier!

Liquid eyeliner - shade in leopard
I'm a full-on believer of black eyeliners, but after using this shade and falling in love with the product as a whole, I just repurchased the same shade. I love this eyeliner so much. Nothing beats it, but I'm going to admit, it's not for everyone. But for me, it just works. Oh, and I forgot to describe the shade. It's a shimmering dark green. Love it!

Finally, the risk product. I was online, wanting to get free shipping and I decided to add in another product. I've been wanting to rock the blue eye makeup. It still hasn't happened yet, that smokey blue but I thought this eyeshadow would help. Online, it looked really vibrant. The blue really came through, but... in person, it's not that obvious. Maybe it'll show more if you had pale skin. It's hard to see on my skin, although you can tell that it is blue - just not as blue as I would like!

The important part: SWATCHES!

Korean Beauty/Skincare Haul, Part Two. HERA and INNISFREE

This is Part Two of my Korean Beauty/Skincare Haul. You can read Part One here.

I didn't ask for too much makeup, but I really did want to try the cushion foundations. These cushion products are big in Korean market, and I thought it was about time to try them out and see why. Nowadays, I've been wanting that natural glow skin-like foundation finish. And with the winter season coming, my skin has been breaking out and cracking!

I know that Korean gals love that dewy look, and most of their products are infused with hydration. I thought it'd be perfect for what I was looking for. I got 3 different kinds of cushion products.

One is from Hera, a fairly luxe Korean product. I've tried their foaming cleanser before, which you can see in the picture above, and was happy to get a huge sample. (Yes, they rock when it comes to giving out free products!) The Hera cushion has two kinds. I got the cover edition, since I do have a lot blemishes and breakouts!

The other is from Innisfree, which is the more affordable brand. I got two from them, the water glow and the long-wear cushions.

I'm going to try them out for at least a month and tell you what I think about them! If you've ever tried any of these "cushion" products, tell me your thoughts about them. Here's a peak of what they look like inside :)

Korean Beauty/Skincare Haul, Part One. ISOI SKINCARE

When my mother told me she was going to visit South Korea for a mere week, I took it upon myself to give her a list of things I wanted her to get for me. And kindly, she did. But I have to say, all she had to do was go to the isoi counter and get a bunch of their products. When I went to a Korean skincare/beauty PR event a few months back (read it here), I tried out a product from isoi. It was quite pricey, but what really sold me was that they had a whole line using Bulgarian rose.

Sigh, Bulgarian Rose. Last time my sister went to Bulgaria, she brought back bags... I mean bags of pure Bulgarian rose products. We didn't even know their roses were famous until she went there. Everything and everywhere were rose products. When she brought back the products, I loved them all and I even blogged about a lot of them. You can read some of them here :)

That being said, I guess word got in to the Korean beauty market. The brand isoi brought out a line using Bulgarian rose. But even if it isn't just their line, I just love this brand's philosophy! They promise that their products (ALL) are FREE of: Parabens, synethic colors and fragrance, PEGs, mineral oils, silicones, etc.,... basically, anything toxic for your face. That makes me really happy, it really does!

I will write a more detailed review of each of the products, but one that is a repurchase (the one I tried from the PR event) is the Blemish Care Serum from their Bulgarian Rose line. It feels like water. It seems like nothing, but oh, the difference it made!

I am also currently trying the Bulgarian Rose Waterful Cream which so far feels amazing.

There is going to be a Part Two, where I talk about some of the makeup I got. I'm just having fun trying all these products, whoohoo! :) Read it here!

Revlon COLORSTAY GEL ENVY

wearing High Roller

I'm still waiting for nail polish brands to come out with smaller sizes. But in the meantime, I'm still collecting nail polishes and it is becoming quite a collection. There is a new favorite that is surfacing above everything else I have. It is the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy. I came across this nail polish after Estee from essiebutton wore it in several of her videos. At first I got the exact shade she had (Up the Ante), and after discovering how amazing the quality was, I went and got three more.

Left to Right: Beginner's Luck, Up the Ante, High Roller, Wild Card
wearing Wild Card

What I love about them you ask? There isn't a lot of shades, but I do hope they come out with more. The finish (after two coats) is super... super shiny. As if it was a gel nail polish. I know Sally Hansen came out with gel-type polishes, but oh my, they are horrible! But these from Revlon are amazing. They stay shiny for days on end. I want to compare them to the Butter London polishes because they are super shiny too and the wear goes for days too. The thing though is Revlon is that it is half the price of the Butter London ones!

I just love how long-lasting they are and how shiny they stay put until you take them off. I usually find that nail polishes start looking dull after a day or two, or immediately after you apply hand lotion. But this will last! I've tried other Revlon polishes, but other lines from them aren't that great. It is specifically this line of products that rock ;)

Makeup for Work⎪LIPSTICKS

It might be helpful for some of you out there to know what makeup to wear to interviews. I definitely have a set of products I use when I go for interviews. Unless you are going into the fashion or beauty industry, makeup for interviews might have to be toned down just a little. For me, I definitely make sure to tone done my makeup so that I look professional, ready, and awake.

So, today I want to share with you some of the lip products I use for my "interview makeup". I've got there here on the topshelf today, but I forgot one more to add. I'll mention it down below.

Basically, I've chosen the "MY LIPS BUT BETTER" shades -- going from plum-nude, pink-nude, to beige-nude shades. A lipstick that I've been loving to pieces has been the MAC "Syrup" lipstick. Oh boy, this shade is really one of a kind. It has a plum tone to it, but it isn't over the top. It's an everyday shade with a pop of something pretty and different.

Another natural shade is one by Tom Ford in the shade "Spanish Pink". I recently blogged about this one, but it really is a natural pink shade. It goes with any look, and it isn't too pink nor too nude. It's really lovely! And Tom Ford lipsticks are really long-lasting, so that's a plus since you won't have time to keep reapplying before or during an interview!

Lastly, my cult-fave is by Burberry. The shade "Copper" deserves an award. At times it looks pink, at times it looks orange-biege, and at other times, it looks like a natural rose. Whatever it changes to under different lights, it always looks lovely. The consistency is lovely. Really moisturizing! It almost acts like a balm with color in it. When in doubt and I don't know what to wear, I always go for this shade. In occasions where I want to look ready-set-go... this is the one to go to.

Now the lipstick I forgot to add to my topshelf is the one by Lord and Berry. It is the shade "Rose Nu". Read about this here.

Do any of you have particular lipsticks that you wear for interviews or other professional settings? Let me know :) x

September Favorites

This month was me trying desperately to get my skin to look better. I don't have too many favorites this month, but the ones that I did pick out were really the best of the best!

First off, my glasses from Warby Parker. The Holocomb frame (www.warbyparker.com/eyeglasses) is just my everything! I had it for over a month now, and I love it more and more each day. I don't mind wearing these frames outside and it gives my outfit such an edge!

I've also been loving the Burberry Sheer Glow foundation. It gives the face such a glowing look without it being slippery. It doesn't break me out either, which is always of my utmost importance. When I find that it isn't covering enough, I mix it with my Estee Lauder maximum cover foundation.

That reminds me of the Hourglass Primer I picked out. If you didn't know, I once raved about this product... then, I found the Benefit Primer and totally transferred over to them. But nowadays, I'm back on the wagon with my Hourglass Mineral Veil primer. It's been working better than the Benefit for some strange reason!

For blusher, I've picked up the Benefit Rockateur blush. I bought this last year, and I didn't like the color, but for some reason, this shade has been looking good on my skin. I also love how the Benefit blushes give you that gleam on the cheeks. It's really so pretty! Oh, and I forgot to mention that the shade is a rose-gold kind of shade.

Lipsticks! I've been loving two. The first is a recent purchase from Tom Ford. I love their lipsticks so much. Unlike the previous shade I had from Tom Ford, which was Violet Fatale, this natural shade called Spanish Rose is a perfect everyday pink shade.

The other lipstick is from MAC. The shade is Syrup, and it is seriously one of a kind. It's a plum, but a muted kind. It's everyday, with something different. I'm going to be posting my "Interview Makeup" post, where I share with you some of the products that I recommend for interviews. This is one of them! Absolutely love!

I'm almost done with the Josie Maran hand cream. This might very well be a repurchase because nothing makes me cuticles disappear as well as this one. The smell isn't all that beautiful, nor the packaging... but the actual substance of this lotion is GOOD.

Finally, fragrance. I used my Sephora points to get a decent travel size of the Nest Midnight Fleur fragrance. I've heard about it so much, I thought I'd give it a try. Not only do I love the packaging, but I love the smell for sure! It is a warm and encompassing scent. It's sweet and it feels like someone is wrapping you with a cozy blanket. I've been wearing it everyday, and it fits really well especially with the Fall here now!

Reminder: search up the brand into the search bar to read the previous reviews on the products!
