I don't ever find the urge to blog about shampoos. I've always used drugstore products, some expensive ones too, but nothing was too spectacular. But for the past few months, I've been reaching for the same shampoo after finishing each bottle. That is the Clear Scalp and Hair shampoo.
I used to have horrible dandruff problems. I've tried the famous Head & Shoulders, but that didn't do much. I used organic shampoos and other recommended ones. Nothing really helped.
But I came across this shampoo after reading Into The Gloss's blogpost on Miranda Kerr. She's the cover girl for this hair brand, and I don't know, her little snippet on why she loves this product sold me.
I wanted something that would clarify my scalp but not dry up the ends of my hair. I know most of the clarifying detox shampoos are recommended only for the scalp, but what a pain is that! Some of them don't even foam well, and it's all just a fuss. But this shampoo was promising a clear scalp and healthy hair.
After the first use, I knew I was pretty sold. Significantly less dandruff and my roots were... well, alive. My scalp felt so clean but my hair was so soft at the same time!
Now it's a staple hair product for me, and a constant repurchase. I particularly like the Volumizing Root Boost line.
There are times when you discover something you've been looking for all your life, and all along it was right there. Okay, let's get to business. What am I talking about?
DRY SHAMPOOS.
Okay, so this is an old thing. A lot of people have used it, but I haven't. I never thought of trying it. Never attempted it. And, I never heard good things about it from anyone around me.
But, in case you haven't read my previous mention of my haircare routine, I get my hair chemically straightened twice a year. Originally, my hair is a frizz-ball. Sigh. But when I chemically straighten it, it becomes a blanket of silk :)
All is well with the straightening process, but there is one huge downfall. You can't wash your hair for 60 hours. Now, I don't know about you, but that's crazy and I just can't do it. I end up waiting about a day and a half and give up. When I didn't have bangs, I could wait out two days or something. When I had less things to do with my life, I'd find the time in my week when I would have NOTHING to do so that when I end up with oily hair, I can just sit in my room and come in contact with no one (a bit exaggerated but still, true).
But this time around, I had not only bangs but work. I mean, I can't miss out work just because I have oily bangs??? So, I had to think of something to cut the oiliness. Then, I thought. Why not try out dry shampoos?
My original notion of the whole thing was: yucky, gooey, powdery, messy, and ineffective. I was nothing but doubts about it.
But then I watched Essie from Essiebutton talk about it in one of her videos, then I remember Ingrid from MissGlamorazzi talk about it. So, I decided to give it a try.
I went for Batiste dry shampoos. Ulta is currently doing a buy one, get 2nd 50% off. So, just in case I got one full size and one travel size, in the scents Floral and Cherry.
I mean, before I bought this, I really did my research. There are so many dry shampoos out there and so many mixed reviews. I went safe and got the cheaper one that had the best reviews.
This morning before work, I thought I'd give it a try. Lifted a portion of my bangs. PSSST. Spritz. Then I massaged it in with my fingers.
then.... voila! Fresh. Clean. Natural tousle.
The result was so good, I chucked the travel size into my bag and headed for work. I would spritz it maybe every four hours to give my bangs and anywhere a bit of a lift. Wow. It was so good!
Now, I'm literally addicted.
So, where was I before dry shampoos? I don't know. But what I do know is that now my life has gotten so much better and so much easier. And days when my hair is clean but my bangs keep getting weighed down, I can save some real shampoo for this and look as fresh as day :) Summer is also here. That can only mean sweat and oiliness. But no worries. I got these to back me up! x

If Glossybox, you guys ever get around to reading this, I'm thinking maybe you'd like a little to use me as your ambassador? :) Okay, all self-promotion aside, I truly like the Glossybox service. Every month, there's at least ONE thing to look forward, let alone a plethora of blessings that surround me. I'm happy that they finally got around to getting the boxes on time. I've had a problem with that. Now, all is well.
This box was titled Fall Forward, marking the oh-so-sad-time-passing-by-all-too-quickly start of Autumn! I'm not all too sure how the theme actually related to the products but nonetheless, I was happy with what I had received.
As always, the box comes with hair products. This time it came with GKHair shampoo and conditioner. Again, I'm not always so thrilled about hair products besides the fact that I'd get something to pack next time I leave home (which is never).
Then there was the biggie. A Missha BB cream, that I had in fact used for quite some time many years back. I remember I used to wear this all the time and loved it to pieces! Then, I ran out of the two tubes I had and from then on, I went exploring for other products. Point is, I loved it and when I saw it I was like... NOSTALGIA! It's a Korean brand BB cream (they do it the best!) that has really good coverage and is fairly thick. It definitely doesn't feel "watery". I'm not too sure if the people who like to feel as if they have no makeup on, would feel about this. I felt it was thick, but then again, I didn't really wear it alone. All in all, it's good thing to try out. Don't be shocked about the color (try to get the right one) but even so, keep blending until you reach your skin color. It shall be okay :)
Then, the exciting product is the Koh Gen Do cleansing spa water. As you know, (you should know!) I am in love with Bioderma Crealine H20. I've opened my eyes to the water-based makeup removers and love them so much more than the oil removers that just sweep and drag makeup all over your face. Well, actually, oil makeup removers really do the job well but then your eyes get sore or itchy, and your face doesn't feel exactly fresh does it? But water-based cleansers leave your face feeling SO fresh and don't irritate your eyes. So, I'm pretty excited about this.
Lastly, its Glossybox's own lipstick in the color "Pink". (I know, it's not exactly the most creative). The color is quite pretty when swatched and all, but when I wore it on my lips, it didn't seem to be a flattering one. It was neither bright nor pink enough-- it seemed rather dusty and dull! However, it is very pigmented and creamy so that's a good thing.
All in all, I rated this box an 8.5/10. The last month's box was better, and I'm sure there's many good ones to come!
