Byredo Parfums BLANCHE⎜Second Series, The Hair Perfume

I'm coming back to you with a new update on a product I've been carrying around with me everywhere. If you don't know already, you can read this post here about my love for the Byredo Parfums, and especially the one called Blanche. Recently, Byredo Parfums released a new line of hair perfumes.

Byredo Parfums⎪Blanche

I carry this everywhere. If you don't already know, I am a fragrance-lover and I'm very keen on the fragrances I wear. The two brands that I rate as my all-time favorites are Diptyque and Byredo Parfums. (You can check out my fragrance videos on my Youtube channel)

From Byredo I've been eyeing the Blanche fragrance because of its really pure, clean, simple, yet sophisticated and fresh scent. It captures that perfect Sunday morning with clean bedsheets on a breezy Spring day, somewhere in the countryside.

Happily, Byredo has hand creams for certain fragrances and they had one for Blanche. It comes in a relatively small tube, and the power of the scent is there. I love that the scent is strong and lasts for more than a few minutes. The minute you open the tube and smear it on your hands, everyone around you notices it right away. Well, thank goodness it's a beautiful scent because people always ask what the scent is. I love that the scent is so fresh and clean, and times when I'm especially feeling icky, I love to pull this out and just waft that nasty smell away!

It is very moisturizing. It might leave a little bit of residue but it's gone in a few seconds. More than anything though is the scent and the packaging. I usually don't think that's a good enough of a reason, but because this is one of my favorites scents, I'll gladly repurchase this!

Favorite Summer Fragrances

It's finally reached 90º here in NY. I still have to install the A/C in my room, because it really is starting steaming up. But what better way to liven up the steam with some fresh fragrances to open up a field of flowers before you?

I've picked out my favorite summer scents, ones that will freshen you up and even the people around you. Of them, my all-time favorite summer scent has got to be the Jo Malone "Lemon Tart". Hands down the best. It is really a sharp note of lemon, but mixed with a kind of sweetness that makes it so delicious, fresh, feminine, and unique.

Another Jo Malone summer-best is the "Blackberry and Bay" scent. Something about this makes it the perfect beach fragrance. It has that salty beach-like scent to it but it isn't too muddled with a strong heavy scent. Rather, it is just really fresh and just another really unique scent.

A brand that does wonders with all things fresh is of course Fresh itself. Goodness, their "Hesperides Grapefruit" is seriously the best most abundant smelling grapefruit scent on the market. I've smelt quite a lot of grapefruit scents, but nothing comes as lovely and feminine and truly well rounded as this one. It is perfect for the gals, a truly feminine scent. I often find grapefruit to smell quite masculine, but this particular one really does wonders in creating that well-bodied fresh sweet succulent feminine grapefruit scent!

Diptyque is and will always be my favorite fragrance brand. I think this brand, along with Byredo Parfums is one of a very few brands that still brings out fragrance after fragrance that really develops by the division of notes. I feel other fragrance brands, even though they talk about having certain many notes in their fragrances, the products themselves don't really live up to the descriptions. They rarely develop, and are quite one-dimensional. But the two brands I mentioned, they really score perfect when it comes to dimension in perfumes. You can watch more of my perfume analysis here. (I will leave the video down below as well)

I recently used up all of Byredo Parfums "Pulp", so I haven't got that to show you, but that is another great summer fruit basket scent. From Diptyque I picked "Oyedo" and "Ofresia". "Oyedo" is a fruit basket, but a really sweet kind. It is on the heavier side, but that it because there are just so many different notes of fruits and flowers. I would consider this a citrus scent. It is exploding with notes of fruits so much that you just smell delicious all day long. Again, I see this as a very feminine scent. And people always come up to me telling me they love what I'm wearing.

Lastly, "Ofresia" is an entirely floral based scent. I know most of what I picked were fruit-based, but "Ofresia" is smells of freesia and other floral notes. It is so light and airy, and so lady-like. I call this my "professional" scent -- one where I wear to professional events where I don't want to make a statement but I want to smell prim and proper, feminine and fresh.

Wishlist #3

Some things I want but not necessarily need. I've come to a point where I feel I have enough and that pretty much scares me haha. Either I have too much or I'm growing old. Still yet, here are some things I'd love to try!
  1. Josie Maran "Happy Honey"
  2. Clinique "Take the day off" balm cleanser
  3. Nars Velvet Lip in "Damned"
  4. Laura Mercier mineral foundation
  5. Bobbi Brown blush in "Apricot"
  6. Byredo Parfum "Inflorescence"
Anyone want to recommend any of them? x

The Topshelf.

Ever wondered what my Topshelf actually looks like? It's actually a double-Topshelf since a glass separates what's actually on top and what is displayed below. You can see some of my favorite items that I in fact frequently talk about. Fragrances are of course, a must. Need I mention Diptyque as my all-time favorite? Watch. It takes the largest and center position of it all! I have a few candles placed here and there, ones especially from Cire Trudon, Diptyque, Tocca, and Neom. I have a glass mirror box on the left side, holding some of my favorite jewelries from Catbird.

Below my glass cover are assortments of unopened boxes and opened treats that I like to leave on for display. A new collection piece is the Larsson & Jennings watch that I am absolutely loving right now. I also have a few grab-and-go essentials like my Tangle-Teasers and hair-curl things for quick fixes.

All of my makeup is stored in the drawers right below this topshelf. As for skincare, that's stored in another compartment. If you want to see a gist of the setup, you can watch My Makeup Collection video if you'd like! Here, I'm linking it down below:

Do you recognize any of the items?

Byredo Parfums⎜Perfume Collection (Part #3)

I am nearing the end of my Perfume Collection video series! I am so happy with the response so far and I love to read your comments. Today is going to be about my most luxurious brand fragrance. It is a Swedish brand called Byredo Parfums (blogged about it the day I got it on my Tumblr). The 50ml values at $145. Yikes! Fortunately, I have a sister who was willing to buy them for me for my birthday some year back :)

As expensive as they are, I will without hesitation say that I do not regret a single penny! Though I have named Diptyque as my all-time favorite fragrance brand, I think that it also shares a seat with this babe too! As I say, they are perfection in a bottle.

I was first intrigued by this brand because I saw it pop up on random pictures on Tumblr. They weren't from beauty blogs but random home-topshelf pictures. The bottle I thought, was simply chic and so I began my investigation to finding out what this Byredo Parfums thing was all about!

No doubt, after a few reads and clicks on their website, I was completely sucked into them. As I have mentioned in my previous videos, I think fragrances MUST tell a story. The name, the packaging, the inspiration, and finally the scent must all come in one perfect package. This brand definitely did that job, impeccably.

Before I popped into Barney's New York (department store in NYC) I took a hefty amount of time reading up on their fragrances so that if I was just as impressed with the actual scent as I was with their description online, I would know for what I would be spending this much money on. Thankfully, I met a lady at the counter who was so helpful in informing me about these scents. She helped me choose these two that I so love! When I went to Barney's I already had about 5 that I was seriously interested in. It came down to these two, and although I went to just get one, I ended up getting both!

The Pulp is something I wear more often than the other, partly because it is such a fresh, lively, explosive fragrance of ripe fruit. It works well all year around and what's wonderful about it is that wherever you are, you instantly create this atmosphere of life with this fragrance beaming out of your presence! It is intensely savory and heavy. It isn't one of those airy light fruit scents. I mean, this is serious business of real ripe fruits!
In Pulp, a compilation of exotic and Swedish influences create an international fruit basket. A dramatic composition focused on the idea of ripe, sweet, shapeless mass of fruit, an unruly and intense savor. (website)
Here are the notes of Pulp
Top: Bergamot, cardamom, blackcurrant
Heart: Fig, red apple, tiare
Base: Cedar wood, praline, peach flower

Interestingly enough, very much like my other fruity scents (from Jo Malone the Blackberry & Bay and Grapefruit) it isn't as "feminine" as one would think. I don't know about you, but when I think of fruity scents I think of girly scents. It doesn't seem to be the case with these rich perfumes! They are more masculine than one would think! I would definitely find this attracting both men and women.

As for Seven Veils, the moment I took that first sniff of Seven Veils I was like THIS IS IT. When I first bought it, it had just recently launched. Here is what they say on their website:
Seven Veils is a spicy oriental composition built around the warmth of vanilla flower and Indian sandalwood.
It is based on the biblical tale of Salome’s dance of the Seven Veils, a story of many layers. Tainted and bejeweled, Salome turns to the art of shameless seduction. Barefooted, sanguine and black eyed, she demands a man’s head on a plate in exchange for one single dance...
“On that first morning the moon sinks late and you feel the pull, as if it were night, magnetic in a way the sun could never be. Three memories pervade the air. The way you hold it; the way through fingers you let it slip; and the way the woven silk floats across the winds. So now floats a perfect fifth, in a minor chord, from an ancient bow, resonating in our ears louder and louder. And louder still until it grows stronger than even our beating hearts. You rise up, upon your feet, and even higher. With seven veils you dance, swirling swirling swirling.”
It is seductive, feminine, sophisticated, sweet, and oh my gosh.. just so alluring and chic! Here are the notes of Seven Veils
Top: Carrot, Pimento Berries
Heart: Tahitian Vanilla Flower, Laurier Rose, Glycine, Tiger Orchid
Base: Sandalwood, Vanilla Bean
I would definitely say that this is really just for women. I mean, there is no category but I think if you smell it you'd easily agree that it truly embodies women. I love it so, but I definitely only wear it in the winter time. Or else, even a single spritz would be too dense and heavy for spring or summer!

my Makeup Collection #1

In this video, you can get a glimpse of my ever so presh topshelf too aka perfume collection :)

Here's my first ever Makeup Collection video! It's taken me awhile to actually pucker up the time and mentality to film this. Reason being is because when I thought my collection was organized well enough, I had new products coming in soon. And when I thought I had just about a stable collection, my topshelf/room/collection was a mess! So, when I organized it a bit and thought it was "stable" enough, I thought: this is the time! So, here it is. Again, not ideal but will it ever be? :) Also, I numbered it #1 because as you know, makeup collections will never stay the same. At least not forever because there's always new ones coming, old and used ones leaving!

Apologizes that the video shakes so much! :/ I should've set it up with my tripod. Sorry! I hope no one gets sick watching it... But still, hope you enjoyed it :) It'd be awesome if you liked and subbed to my channel!

Wishlist #2: FRAGRANCE AND RINGS!

So, you know I have an unhealthy obsession for fragrances and rings. Rings are a fairly new thing, and I blame it all on Catbird because before I discovered this little shop in Brooklyn, I never had an "obsession" for jewelry. That's all changed now, and I've collected about five Catbird rings thus far. Still, there are more I want to purchase. I've restrained myself and chose the two top rings I am dying to have! It's the rose-gold Cat-ring ($150) and a twisted ring ($65). It will be perfect for staking the rest of what I have!

As for fragrances, I mean I'm name my favorite three brands. Diptyque. Byredo Parfums. and Jo Malone. It's all pretty European since one is French, another Swiss(?), and lastly, English. For Diptyque, I have three eaux des toilettes but because they are so light, I wanted to try the colognes. I couldn't choose between the three they had. I will pick one up though for sure! My giftcard to Saks will get pretty handy soon :) As for Byredo Parfums, I have two from them: Pulp and Seven Veils. But recently, my big sister has been eyeing my Pulp. I'm afraid I'd eventually have to hand it over. So, in replacement I have been thinking of getting Blanche. When I went for a test sniff at Barneys, I was truly mesmerized of the purity and clarity of the scent. Still, I was set on getting the ones I had decided beforehand. Also, Bal D'afrique, one of the top-selling fragrance was another excellent sniff! Due to the fact that it is really expensive, I am thinking of choosing between the two. I still haven't made up my mind! Lastly, Jo Malone... the most affordable of the three is also a safe yet luxurious English fragrance. I have the large Wild Bluebell scent, but it seems oh-so-lonely on its own! I want to find something that will give it more dimension. Since the weather is getting warmer, I am thinking of picking up something that has a floral and/or fruity family scent! So far, I am thinking of the Blueberry Bay. I have yet to have a test sniff!

Finally, just because it looks really elegant & chic, I want to buy Catbird's roller-ball perfume case. I currently use Travelo to carry around my perfume, which is excellent. But just look at that long white elegant stick. Doesn't it look so classy? Another must on my wishlist I have to say!

So, this is some of my fragrance & jewelry wish products! If I were to add beauty products, it'd cause the collage to BURST. So I kept it as minimal as I could. What are some of your wish products?
