Why did it take me so long to figure out that all I needed was waterproof mascaras to keep my thick straight lashes, CURLED? After spending dollars and dollars on high-end mascaras like Chanel (read here), Lancome, ByTerry (read here) ... I've finally purchased drugstore mascaras from Maybelline and I am loving it.

REVIEW⎜Chanel "Inimitable Waterproof" Mascara
7:09 PM
The beautiful wand that keeps thick straight lashes curled all day. This is Chanel's "Inimitable Waterproof" Mascara.
I don't wear waterproof makeup because I hate having to fuss with taking it off at the end of the day. But then I hear that waterproof mascaras are the secret to curled lashes. I haven't tried too many, but even if I don't have any other mascaras to compare with, I know this thing is amazing! The only other waterproof mascara I can compare it to is the ByTerry Soyeaux Waterproof Mascara. This was also beautiful in keeping my lashes curled, but the price of the ByTerry was...!!!
So in comparison, the Chanel mascara ($32) seemed quite affordable. I love this a little more too because the wand helped coat every lash. The black is intense and you can coat it several times without it clumping.
Here are snaps of my lashes closeup. The curl stays on all day. Love, love! Just remember that my lashes are super straight and just a pain to keep curled. Keeping them in this state is a miracle in it of itself!
I also featured this product in my January Favorites.
January Favorites⎪Makeup Highlights
6:57 PM
It's a little late, so even though I'm posting this as "January Favorites", it's more like makeup that I've been enjoying recently.
I kept the usual ones out of this post because I mention them all the time, products like Estee Lauder Maximum Cover foundation or my Hourglass Arch Brow Pencil. I wanted to add new favorites and products I haven't mentioned in awhile.
Products I've been loving for a long time but haven't mentioned recently: Perfekt Brow Perfection Gel. I love this stuff. Another long time favorite is the Nars lipstick in the shade Honolulu Honey. It really is a beautiful peach nude that works well with my skin tone. (See the swatch here) Love, love it! And finally, this product isn't "new" in that I've already featured it on my blog here but it is fairly a new discovery so I thought I'd best mention it. It is the BeautyBlender makeup applicator.
As for new products, I have quite a few - ones I have never mentioned on my blog before.
You know I've been obsessed with primers right? I mean just the past year, I've used three different kinds of primers for the face. And even still, if I hear about a good primer, I am willing to try it. They make all the difference in the world when it comes to how you look throughout the day. This really cute packaged primer called Egg Pore smooth balm from TonyMoly is a pretty darn good primer! It is meant to be used where you are oily and where your pores are visible. It has a tightening effect because of the egg that they use. It also contains other ingredients that helps clear the skin as well as keeping the makeup on. The egg and camellia extracts controls sebum and oil production. Because it is a balm type, it is amazing in smoothing over bumps, pores, and wrinkles! Above all else, it smooths the face and keeps makeup lasting long and that's what makes it pretty amazing. You can get this on Amazon.
Another new product that I've been in love with is Chanel's "Inimitable Waterproof" mascara. Oh goodness, where do I begin with this mascara? I guess I'll begin by saying that I love that it keeps my curls on... all day. I have thick straight lashes. I don't even expect my eyelashes to curl, let alone, stay curled. The last time a mascara kept my curls was the ByTerry mascara that they stopped selling. After that one exorbitant priced mascara, I went back to be okay with straight lashes. But then, I discovered this and just was amazed. Read the review here.
A lip product that I'll do a separate post about is the HolikaHolika Waterproof Tint Stick. This thing is something I've never tried before - a tint that takes things to another level. Really. You'll have to take my word for it until I write an in-depth review because... it's that good.
Finally, an eye palette that I love because of its versatile use is the Pony x Memebox Palette 1. I love that some of the shades can be used for contouring and even brows. You can create so many looks with this one palette. You can read more about it here.
ByTerry Soyeux Waterproof Mascara. The Best Curling Wand
12:32 PM
Thick straight lashes. Add volumnizing mascara to that, and any curling efforts you've done will soon turn to nothing. I always go for lengthening mascaras because they are excellent for keeping the curls and non-clotting effects. I find that volumnizing mascaras really weigh down the curls to the lash.
However, I never found any mascara that actually kept the curls all day. I've finished all of my sample mascaras like: Benefit "They're Real" and Laura Mercier mascara. I've been a fan of the Giorgio Armani Lengthening Mascara, but I'm done with that too. So, I decided to begin trying a new kind of mascara that was waiting to be tested!
It's the ByTerry Soyeux Waterproof Mascara No.1 that I had bought from Space NK in their once-a-year 80% off sale. It's not available anymore because it is out of stock, but you can check it out here: click here. It's original price is about $40 but I got it for a mere $5.85! Crazy, and so I had to put it in the basket, you know? If you're wondering, this sale was in the beginning of this year.
This literally keeps the lashes curled all day, and I'm talking all day. I take pictures and sometimes I am surprised to see the flirty lash look still on at the end of the day! It's pretty amazing since I had nothing that kept it on this well and this long.
It's also waterproof, so if you're one for those, this is great. I have to say though, that I loathe waterproof because it is such a pain to take off. Also, eye makeup doesn't budge on my eyes so I don't find waterproof necessary.
This mascara is also great for lengthening. I can't say it does a lot of volumnizing because the bristles don't get every single lashes. But, the effect of lengthening is good enough for me!
I don't know if I'd repurchase this (let alone, is it still available?) for a heft price of $40 because though it's great for curling, I mean... $40 is quite a lot. But, if I ever do find it on sale again, for $6 then why of course!
Do you have any recommendations for the best curling and keep 'em curled all day mascaras (that don't cost $40)? x

Returned Products #1 . Marc Jacobs
4:10 PM
It may be another version of "disappointing products" kind of post, but I'll just call it "Returned Products" post because what's great about the beauty industry here is that they have great return services! Beauty products can really add up, and spending some few hundred dollars on them is a breeze. So, if ever I am disappointed with a product, I make sure to return them. Sometimes I miss the return term and keep them around, but that rarely happens.
The first of these series is unfortunately about a product I wanted to like. I read so many good reviews on this product, so I had hoped it would be good. I'm talking about the Marc Jacobs "Magic Marc'er Precision Pen". On Sephora it has a blooming 5-star rating, and I take those ratings seriously. Unfortunately, because Marc Jacobs beauty line is so new, all the beauty bloggers I always rely on hadn't written any reviews on their products. So, taking a leap of faith, I bought their liquid eyeliner and got a sample of their "Gel Volume Mascara".
So, in short here are the reasons why I ended up returning the item(s). Please remember that these are my preferences and opinion! They may just work for you... Anyway, to go on!
For the eyeliner:

For the eyeliner:
- Because it is a gel formulation (so it says on the packaging) it is so wet. Most liquid products do not smudge on my eyes, but the dry time for this eyeliner is so long. I mean, I was fanning my eyelids so that the would dry. Before knowing that, I had a thick wet line above my eyes!
- The finish. Too wet-looking. It almost looks plastic on the eyes, and it doesn't give a sophisticated look because it's too shiny.
- Something about the works of this isn't favorable. Perhaps it's too thin, although I've been a fan of thin brushes (CathyCat eyeliner) but the works of it is not the best of it's kind.
- When swatched, it does last all day, but I asked people around me to try this one out and it had smudging going on. (Flaking, mostly)
In terms of the mascara.
- Fall outs. Mascaras don't usually bother me much, but this one, by the end of the day was drying up and flaking all over and under my eyes.
- Again, because it's a gel-consistency, it is so difficult to take off! I don't go for waterproof makeup because I hate taking them off.
- The brush is hard to work with.
- Again, that gel-formulation is just way too wet. Too much of a dry time!
Whew.
This all sounds negative, but they are my honest thoughts so I hope it helped you somehow. Again, they are purely my preferences so they may just work for you! Tell me what you think.
The Long Awaited Man-Repeller Glossybox
8:21 PM
So THE MAN REPELLER Glossybox is here. If you don't know who she is... well then, you better go check her website out and figure out who she is because I mean... she is THE MAN REPELLER. Anyway, this January Glossybox was a big deal. It was talked about everywhere and I'm sure the orders went up like crazy! I was most excited to get a Tarte red lipstick.
The other day, I finally received my box (a bit too late Glossybox!!) Anyway, unfortunately, I didn't get a Tarte lipstick but instead I got their awesome cream cheek tint! Inside was also an Estee Lauder mascara (sample size), Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Serum (sample), Le Metier de Beaute replenishing daily solution (sample), a Narciso Rodriguez perfume for women (sample), a FULL SIZE OPI in "Can't Let Go", a Sebastian Professional styling cream, and finally a TARTE FULL SIZE CHEEK TINT in Achiote!
This box definitely rates as one of the highest. But, because they had so many high-end products, the sizes were mostly sample size. But, hey! That's fine. We've got the Tarte, the OPI, and the travel-size hair cream! I'd rate this box a 9.5 :)

The Glossybox is usually baby pink, but this month's box came in a special packaging with a metallic silver box with the man repeller mark imprinted on the box!
The box came with this really cute letter-like postcard thing from Leander, the Man Repeller herself! So cute! x
a close-up!
A nice peachy orange. It'll give a slight flush to your cheeks. It is super sheer though, great if you have pale skin!
extremely sheer and silky.
But please, can we all admire the ridiculously pretty and cute packaging of this Tarte blush?!?!?!
terribly chic ain't it? LOVE THIS THE MOST!
Giorgio Armani EYES TO KILL (Mascara)
8:53 PM
My new favorite mascara! I've been using this for over a month now and I love it so much. It's the Giorgio Armani "Eyes to Kill" mascara that had been quite a hit and hot issue when it came out, and still probably is. How could it not? It has basically all that I ask for: lengthening, volumizing, and NO CLUTTERS!
I have to say, my eyelashes are thick-- and that may sound great, but it's really not. That means when I curl them and apply mascara, the curls uncurl and goes back to straight! So, the last thing I want is cluttery eyelashes that makes them so heavy that they uncurl. And anyway, who would want cluttered eyelashes?
This mascara comes in two kinds-- one that gives extra volumizing. I believe mine is the normal kind and maybe I'll want to try the extra volumizing one. But regardless, this is amazing because the bristles are so neatly refined that when you comb them through, your eyelashes get brushed evenly and nicely. Then, it adds a coat of ever so creamy and thick mascara that adds volume and length. It's just so clean but it gives such a nice impactful result!
The brush is also really efficient for the bottom lashes as well, although I don't put mascara on my bottom lash. But when I do, I find that unlike other mascaras that have really thick bulky brushes, this one is small and refined enough to get the bottom lashes.
When you apply it, you can feel each bristle working into each lash. The result is full and elongated lashes, and really "eyes to kill"! It's a wet application that of course dries and doesn't leave your lashes feeling too clumped or later drying into bits of powder falling from your eyes! Yuck! This puts on nicely and stays on nicely.
I've been using this nonstop. What are some of your favorite mascaras?
